Welsh Beaches

Barafundle Bay

It is managed by the National trust and has also been voted as one of the best beaches in the world. It lies near Stackpole Quay in Pembrokeshire and is only accessible by a half mile walk from the car park.


Rhossili Beach

Rhossili is a 3 mile sandy beach, perfect for families, surfing or just for walking along. Rhossili Bay was the first beach to be awarded Britain’s Best Beach by TripAdvisors Travellers’ Choice for the second year running.


Freshwater West

Freshwater West is a beach near Castlemartin, Pembrokeshire in West Wales. It is very popular amongst surfers as it has been voted as one of Wales’ top surfing locations with it hosting regular events, such as the Welsh National Surfing Championships. Freshwater West has also recently been made famous as a filming location for Robin Hood and Harry Potter.

Welsh Cuisine

Faggots: These are Welsh meatballs which are usually made from Lamb or Pigs liver, mixed with onions and a binder.

Welsh Cakes: These are small cakes made from flour, sultanas and raisins and can include spices such as cinnamon and nutmeg. They are traditionally cooked on a bakestone.

Lamb: Wales is famous for it’s sheep farming and a traditional Lamb dinner is a favourite across the country. They also use Lamb to make a Cawl, which is a stew consisting of leeks and other vegetables.

Tatws Pum Munud (Five Minute Potatoes): This is also a traditional Welsh Stew, made with potatoes, vegetables and bacon, and then cooked on top of the stove.

Welsh Rarebit (caws pobi ): Traditionally made with Cheddar cheese, Welsh rarebit is a hot savoury sauce consisting of cheese and other ingredients which is then poured over slices of toast.

Quirky Places to Stay 

Of course there are plenty of great places to stay in Wales but what about the weird and wonderful places?

West Usk Lighthouse

This is a Bed and Breakfast located in South Wales, Near Newport. It was built in 1821 and unique amongst lighthouses. All the accommodation is within the building, aiming to give a quirky and comfortable stay rather than luxurious.

Backtrack Camping

A chance to experience glamping in Snowdonia. These yurts are based in a rural area to give you a chance to get away from it all and to breath in the fresh Welsh air.



The Eye-Pod

Located in Mynytho, nr Abersoch Gwyned, the Eye-Pod sleeps two adults for a perfect romantic getaway, complete with a stargazing dome. The Willows Caravan park also has other weird and wonderful places to sleep, such a hobbit tent tourers, why not take a look.
